Simply remove the two pins that are already installed in your cap where the old band attaches by simply pushing them though until they are free then remove the original band and insert your new band replacing the two location pins securing your new band into your cap.
Replacing the band is a real improvement over a broken one and will safe guard your cap while filling the fuel tank.

It arrived promptly and fitted perfectly. It works a treat
I asked FKN what type of material this product was as there are other cheap ones available on the internet which are plastic and not very flexible.
They told me that it was probably a silicone rubber type and had a bit of stretch in it and when it arrived, it was exactly as they said.
It is a little bit shorter than the genuine VW one fitted but as it attaches to the swivel part of the fuel cap, this is not a problem.
I did find that the new small plugs provided to attach it to the cap were tight and not wanting to force them, I used the original ones I removed from the cap but I reckon with a bit of persuasion, the new plugs would fit anyway.
When attaching it to the fuel flap mount, it easily stretched and attached with ease.
I would recommend this product!
